who out there is against abortion but not agaist condoms and birth control?

personally i am pro life (against abortion), but i don’t think trying to preventing pregnancy in the first place is wrong, i think people should take precautions before sex such as condoms or birth control, not plan b…and not an abortion after the fact…

but most pro life people i meet are against all forms of birth control and abortion…
and most pro choice people i meet are for everything all birth control and abortion…

i think once you are already pregnant you should not get an abortion and kill your baby…

i want to be able to protest abortion and hand out condoms…does anyone think that is a better balance?

I think people who are pro-life and against any type of contraceptive are idiots who are just fooling themselves. While I agree abstinence is the only way to truly prevent pregnancy, and more teens should practice abstinence, we live in the real world and need to wake up and smell the bacon. Not all the teens are going to listen to us preach about abstinence, they’re likely to go out and have sex. The best we can do is talk about abstinence, but also tell them about their options in case they do have sex (it’s not condoning sex, it’s making them aware of what’s out there). If they know about something, chances are they’ll use what is available to them. But they need to be made aware, we as parents have that responsibility to these kids.

If birth control and contraceptives fail, then that’s where I step in and say, well, you knew contraceptives weren’t 100% effective, so what to do now? I don’t condone abortion unless it’s medically necessary. Adoption is out there and I feel we owe it to society and these babies to give adoption a shot when an unwanted pregnancy occurs.

So, in short, I am pro-life, but I am NOT against contraceptives at all. If you’re going to have sex, at least use something. I think handing out condoms and free birth control is a good thing and could help prevent a lot of abortions going on out there. I am not against Plan B, either, just because it isn’t actually terminating a pregnancy, it’s preventing the pregnancy from occurring just like a condom or birth control pill (although it should not be used like condoms or birth control pills can be used).

Anti-abortion protest draws over 1 million in Spain

More than 1m people have taken part in a demonstration in Madrid to protest against the socialist government’s plans to liberalise the abortion law.

They are demanding that the government withdraw the draft law which is currently in the parliament, which would introduce abortion on demand within the first 14 weeks of a pregnancy.

At present, a pregnancy can only be terminated in Spain under specific circumstances.

It is the latest in a series of ethical issues which have pitted the Socialist cabinet against Spain’s Catholic right.

According to the organisers, more than one million people gathered in Madrid to protest against the proposed liberalisation of the abortion law.

It is a huge increase on a similar rally in March which attracted an estimated 100,000 people.

The new law would allow the procedure on demand for women of 16 and over, without their parents knowledge

It would be available within the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.

This is the latest ethical flashpoint between the Catholic right and the socialist government

One protestor said: Yes, women have the right to choose, but only over their own bodies, not over other lives.

Another demonstrator said: The government is trying to sell us the idea that this is about women and the right to choose, and that this is progress for women. But murdering defenseless babies will never be a right.

In this overwhelming Roman Catholic country, the socialist government has so far succeeded in legalising gay marriage and making divorce easier.

my nephew Davide died at 8 months from strangulation in the womb by the cord,yet the church wont let us have a mass for him in the church. why is it that the priests are against abortion because the baby is a life…but they don’t consider it a life when its full term?

I am sorry for your loss. But the Church’s views regarding the death of an unborn child can have a funeral in a Catholic Church, so long as the parents wanted to give it a baptism.
If your particular parish has denied it, go to your diocese and talk to the bishop who has the authority to contact your parish. But don’t make the mistake of saying "The Church won’t let us," because that is untrue.

why so many thumbs down for people against abortion on the religious section?

i was surprsied there was a post and every anti abortion statement got several thumbs down, shouldn’t the religious section be against abortion? I know some of them are against birth control so i cant see how they could honestly be against abortion

They simply do not recognize that their posts are so extreme that it actually harms their cause!! Lots of people oppose them because they are extremists and could care less about abortion!!

It is all about their terrible attitudes and claims that have nothing to do with a reasoned and logical argument!!

It basically comes down to people choosing to oppose their extremism as being far worse than abortion ever could be!!

So the thumbs down are not about abortion but about the attitudes and behavior!!

Why is being against abortion, seen as a religious commitment?

Just because someone happens to disagree with abortion being made the norm, doesn’t make that person a fanatical christian, or religious fanatic. I think the concept of abortion goes against humanity if any thing else, the religious side is something else… way way over there >>>

Of course you’re right. The extremist religious right tries to co-opt it as one of their exclusive issues, though.

That way they can point to everybody else and mutter "Godless liberal atheists."

I know liberals, atheists, and liberal atheists who are against abortion.
