How will abortion issues affect the election?

I know several women who are voting for Obama in part because McCain is pro-life and I know that the issue will hurt Obama in more conservative states. With two supreme court justices probably being nominated in the next four years, abortion laws are certainly in the balance again. Will abortion affect your vote?

Abortion won’t effect my vote at all. My reasoning being that no matter what the candidate opinions on the matter they have no power whatsoever to do anything about it. And there are much more important issues at hand right now, such as the war and economy for just 2 examples.

How soon after a medical abortion did you have your next period?

I had a medical abortion 6 weeks ago today. I still haven’t had a normal period and there are no signs of it coming. I’m just curious about when it came back for most other women. I don’t think I’m pregnant, so I’m not worried about that. I’d just like for my cycles to get back to normal so I can get on with my life. Thanks.

Wow, since no one has actually bothered to answer this question, I’m going to be the first (I really don’t understand why people have to use this as a forum for their pro-life nonsense.)
After my abortion, I had my first "period" about 2 weeks afterwards (although the nurses after the operation said it would be about 3-4 weeks before this would happen so I guess it’s different for every woman.) I was later told that this wasn’t a period but instead it was normal bleeding that occurs after the procedure. It hurts a LOT.
Then about 5-6 weeks after that, my nomal period resumed.
So you should be fine but if you’re still worried, see a doctor. It’s very unlikely that you could still be pregnant after a medical abortion as there is so little room for error but you never can be too careful. Or maybe it’s the stress of the whole situation you’ve just been through that’s preventing your period coming back.

How do i help my friend to understand how serious an abortion is?

My best friend is pregnant and she is getting an abortion. Abortion is the best option for her at this time so i am not questioning whether she should keep the baby or not.
She just seems to be taking it so lightly and even laughs about it, she doesn’t understand an abortion is serious. How can i make her see how serious it is and what she is actually doing without talking her out of it?

If u know she’s doing the right thing why do you want her to feel guilty about it? If she’s confident in her decision I don’t see why she has to stress over it.

Why do abortion supporters use a euphemism to describe their stance on abortion?

Pro-choice seems to be a phrase that would be more fitting with consumerism than to describe a position towards abortion.

Abortion supporters are pro choice. If you defend somebodied right to abort, you suport aboriton.

Because people who support a woman’s right to choose are in favour of choice, and that’s why it’s called ‘pro-choice’.

What punishment should a woman receive for having an illegal abortion?

Should abortion be outlawed?

If the procedure is outlawed should women who continue to have abortions be punished?

How should women who have illegal abortions be punished?

If women are not to be punished for illegal abortions how are they not responsible for allowing the abortion to be performed on their bodies?

If you are going to answer "abortions are legal" True but not an answer to the questions being asked then try to answer this: If abortion is to remain legal what is the most compelling and valid argument for doing so you can think of?

Legal basis for Philippine abortion ban
The act is criminalized by the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines, which was enacted in 1930 and remains in effect today. Articles 256, 258 and 259 of the Code mandate imprisonment for the woman who undergoes the abortion, as well as for any person who assists in the procedure, even if they be the woman’s parents, a physician or midwife. Article 258 further imposes a higher prison term on the woman or her parents if the abortion is undertaken "in order to conceal [the woman's] dishonor".

Besides there will always be wise women who do not need clinics to induce a miscarriage.

Murder is a legal definition, and murder requires that the death involve an individual with legal ‘personhood.’ Fetuses and embryos do not have legal ‘personhood.’ (If they did, every miscarriage would be counted in mortality rates, (and would have to be investigated legally by the coroner as an ‘unexpected death’) and every fetus would be counted in the census.)

Some of us believe that, for some people, in some situations, abortion is the better of two bad options. It’s not a "good thing" but sometimes it’s the better choice for the person most immediately involved … the pregnant woman.

Basically murder is a legal term, not a moral term.
