Does anybody have any good websites they know about abortion?

I am doing a report on the topic abortion. I need facts. Does anybody have any good websites they no about. For your info, in a debate, im for abortion, not against it.

I found a webisite called PASS…its about Post Abortion Stress Syndrome. It helps people deal with the after effects. It has some pretty good links, and stories from women that have had abortions. Its a pro-choice website.

FYI…just to respond to an earlier post…not everyone in parenting is Pro-Life. I’m pro-choice myself.

Why have the number of abortion increased?

Posted by admin on February 24th, 2010 and filed under abortion facts | 5 Comments »

Why do you think this has happened?
The number of abortions has steadily increased each year since abortion was made legal in 1973…until 1990. Oddly, there have been slight decreases of abortion each year since 1990. Do you think this has anything to do with the availability of the internet to the masses, where they can go to see the REAL, unwhitewashed facts about abortion? Up until then, just like everything else in our society, mothers in tough situations were basically at the mercy of the mainstream media and abortion “clinics” who were trusted to give unbiased information to women, even though the clinic was VERY financially motivated to make sure that the mother went through with the abortion? Your thoughts?
I forgot to mention that births to unwed mothers have reached an all-time high, so it’s not sex ed and birth control availability that have reduced unplanned pregnancies.

And, most women are under the impression that facilities like "Planned Parenthood" are the place to go for advice on what to do in an unplanned pregnancy, falsely believing that they will get thorough, unbiased information about all of their options. This is not the case. PP is interested in the mother choosing abortion because it makes them money. PP does everything it can to close down Crisis Pregnancy Clinics who counsel mothers on ALL of their options.

Sorry for the confusion. The first question should have been;

Why have the number of abortion DEcreased? Typo.
There are now more Crisis Pregnancy Centers than Abortion "clinics" in the U.S. today. Crisis Pregnancy Centers provide free baby clothes, diapers, formula, OTC pregnancy tests. They also help women find resources for adoption, pregnant mother care, government help, parenting classes, and a multitude of other things to help mothers get through pregnancy, childbirth, and motherhood. Some even have families who will take in pregnant mothers who have nowhere to live.
But doesn’t it stand to reason that the more acceptable abortion becomes, the more justified fathers will feel in abandoning their children? After all, why shouldn’t fathers say "she could’ve just aborted ‘it’ and saved me all this trouble. Why should I not have the ‘right to choose’ too, just because I’m a male?"
levade0: Your statement is not entirely accurate. Yes, men have the option of leaving, but by law, they must financially support their child, even if "they did not want it". They have NO choice in the matter, and even if they are not caught as deadbeat dads, they do constantly have to run and hide.
Women do, however, have several options when it comes to having to care for their offspring; they can kill the baby; they can have the baby and give it up for adoption; they can take their newborn to any hospital or firestation and drop their baby off and leave forever, no questions asked; or they can keep and care for the child. Quite an array of options, when compared with the options for men.
Pathfinder: Thank you for your thoughts. I believe that you are right. The promotion of condoms and other birth control have sent the message that premarital and teenage sex is ok. Girls and boys are having sex younger and younger now…as early as age 11, and we wonder why this is?

What we choose to allow and disallow in our society sends a clear message to our children. What does free birth control and abortion-on-demand say?

I disagree with you. Abortion has increased, because : 1)the society is investing in immorality, especially the entertainment industry. 2)We do not teach that condom does not prevent pregnancy.3)Many underage immature girls are involved in sex activities and getting pregnant. 4)And Man(mankind) has brushed God aside, insisting on living their life apart from God.

Supporting facts on an Abortion issue?

Posted by admin on February 22nd, 2010 and filed under abortion facts | 6 Comments »

Hey guys so i’m in a government class and i need to write a speech on an abortion bill that we are planning on debating in a mock session. the bill basically states that abortions are officially illegal after the first trimester, giving a woman 3 months to make up her mind on what she wants to do. its focusing more on rape/incest victims rather than women who couldnt keep their panties on. Can i have some help with good facts to support this bill? please and thanks! xo
edit: i only said "women who cant keep their panties on" because my best friend’s older sister has had around 7 abortions since she was 17 just because she hates condoms and forgets to take her birth control. its revolting to me. i understand that men are at fault as well.
I’m also not voicing my opinion on this, i am only agreeing with this bill because there is to much work involved to amend it, and i have a terrible case of senioritis. if you want to know my opinion, all i can say is i am PRO CHOICE. and thank you for all your help!
p.s. MALS GRAD STUDENT you’re a bitch. i asked for help on simple HOMEWORK because all im trying to do is get through this class and graduate. and you’re making unecessary judgements on what i’m saying?? PISS OFF.

I love how you say "the woman who couldn’t keep her panties on"…..how about blaming the man as well? Perhaps, you should not be so quick to judge…..you might be that woman one day. And don’t fire back saying you "never" will be; never say never.

This is my stance on abortion….if you don’t agree with it, don’t have one. Simple fix. Stay away from my uterus and body. Keep abortion legal for all circumstances in the first trimester, do not insert your judgment into my life.

Not all women who have abortions have them like a bakers dozen like your friends sister…..which i seem to think her story is exaggerated.

If someone got an abortion is there FACTS that they can have pregnancy complications in the future?

Posted by admin on February 20th, 2010 and filed under abortion facts | 4 Comments »

Please, no opinions on abortion just SCIENIFIC FACTS and SURE KNOWLEDGE.
Thank-you.

The bottom line is that when an abortion has been conducted; legally, safely, professionally and providing there are no complications arising from it, there is no significant risk to the future fertility of the woman involved. Some studies have shown a small increase in the risk of having a miscarriage or pre-term delivery in a future pregnancy following an abortion. This is usually caused by cervical incompetence (the cervix being unable to close tightly during pregnancy). The risk of cervical incompetence does increase according to the number of abortion procedures undertaken. However, a properly performed abortion will not affect the woman’s fertility.

Is it possible to get an abortion without parents knowing? Also what is the cost?

Posted by admin on February 18th, 2010 and filed under abortion facts | 25 Comments »

I would like to know some facts about abortions. Im against it but I still want to know general facts.

i can only speak for michigan, and here yes you can get an abortion done if you’re under 18. you have to do what is called a judicial bypass, which means that you go in front of a judge and explain why you need an abortion and that you understand the procedure and the risks associated with it. at the clinic i worked at, we made this very easy, the patient would make an appointment with us and we would go over everything and set them up with a lawyer at no cost to them. the judge nearly always grants the girl with a judicial bypass certificate which waives parental consent. an abortion in the state of michigan is legal until 24 weeks. the only states that perform them further are kansas and georgia, and each of those states have one or two clinics that will go up to 26 weeks.

the abortion procedure itself takes approximately 3 minutes if the patient is in the first trimester (up to 13 weeks and 5 days). the risk associated with abortion is much less than the risks of carrying a pregnancy to term and going through childbirth. the most common complications include bleeding, infection, and a small hole in the uterus (which almost never happens, and when it does it generally heals itself). what to expect during the procedure- cramps. like bad period cramps for a couple minutes. afterwards, cramps can continue as the uterus shrinks down to it’s normal not pregnant size, and most people experience irregular bleeding for 4-6 weeks (this happens after giving birth too, it’s the hormones trying to get back to normal). the no-no’s for someone who just had an abortion are: swimming, tampons, vaginal intercourse, douching, drinking, asprin products, and strenuous workouts or standing continuously for 4+ hours without a break. these things should be avoided for 2 weeks after the procedure.

as for costs, it depends on where you go, how far into the pregnancy you are, and if your insurance covers it. a lot of insurance plans do have abortion as a benefit, at least a first trimester abortion. clinics that are NAF affiliated (national abortion federation) do have special funding available to low income patients. patients who qualify based on their household income and need can have as much as 75% of their costs paid for by NAF. these clinics that have this funding available are generally the best of the best and must pass extensive inspection and testing to be able to offer it. for example, the clinic that i used to work for uses hospital standards as their bottom line- in every single respect they at least meet hospital standards, and in most cases they exceed hospital standards. there are many other clinics that do the same, but unfortunately the few bad ones ruin the reputation of all clinics in a way. a big thing that someone seeking this service should keep in mind is- you get what you pay for!! the "cheap" clinic (that does not get this funding) who charges $100 or so for an abortion is one to stay away from! an abortion is surgery, and quality care costs more than that!

what someone should look for when choosing a clinic:
-how do they talk to you on the phone? are they nice and caring and willing to talk to you for 30 minutes or are they rude and just try to rush you? do they answer all of your questions?
-ask if you can check out the facility beforehand. if they seem leery about it, that is not a good sign.
-do they offer counseling, to make sure that you are 100% sure of your decision, or do they just want you in there to take your money? do they turn people away if they’re not sure?
-ask about their doctors! are the doctors licensed? has their license ever been suspended for any reason? what kind of doctor are they and where did they go to school? how long have they been performing abortions?
-ask about aftercare. does the clinic have a follow up exam? do they call you the day after to check up on you? do they have an emergency phone number where you can reach the doctor 24/7?

i know that’s a lot of info and i could go on for days, hope it helps!!
