why so many thumbs down for people against abortion on the religious section?

Posted by admin on March 6th, 2010 and filed under against abortion | 15 Comments »

i was surprsied there was a post and every anti abortion statement got several thumbs down, shouldn’t the religious section be against abortion? I know some of them are against birth control so i cant see how they could honestly be against abortion

They simply do not recognize that their posts are so extreme that it actually harms their cause!! Lots of people oppose them because they are extremists and could care less about abortion!!

It is all about their terrible attitudes and claims that have nothing to do with a reasoned and logical argument!!

It basically comes down to people choosing to oppose their extremism as being far worse than abortion ever could be!!

So the thumbs down are not about abortion but about the attitudes and behavior!!

People have opinions, and the thumbs-up/thumbs-down system is one way to express them.

Of course, there are other ways to do so, like blowing up abortion clinics and harassing families considering an abortion.

People have many different opinions here. Assuming the precedence of any one opinion is sort of ridiculous.

You obviously have not been here long.

SOME religious people are against birth control. A LARGER portion of religious people realize that a woman has a right to control her own body.

In an abortion, there are so many possibilities and complications, that sometimes, the circumstances appeal to one’s conscience and other times, it doesn’t. It really is not a thing about religion or not, it is just that most religions respect life. Most of the time, the people who are religious are pro abortion because of the liberal thinking and the circumstances that influence their choice.

Perhaps because people know that you care nothing about the Child after it is born.

It is easy for anyone to get on a Soap Box and say that they are against Abortion, but what have you done to reduce the need for Abortion. Are you helping to take care of the Children that are brought to term by Unwed Mothers? Are you writing your Congressman to provide more funds for Single Mothers?

If the answer is No to these questions, then you are not part of the solution, instead you are part of the problem. If you want the Law to change then do everything you can to help single mothers, otherwise you are just full of hypocrisy.

Probably because they’re ignorant, backwards-thinking morons who seem to feel they have the right to decide for other people.

Ooops. Did I use my outside voice then?

Lots of vandals here support the murder of the weak and the helpless by the strong and the powerful. I guess it’s how they get their jollies.

I think there are a lot of people here that are pro-choice. And, a lot of Atheists just give anyone that seems religious an automatic thumbs down.

As a pro-choice person I think that it come down to how "pro-lifers" are portrayed and perceived.

When you see pro-lifers in the media they’re the "nut bags" protesting outside of abortion clinics, calling the people that go in all sorts of names, and displaying graphic pictures of aborted fetuses for all to see. Some (I know its a small few) even promote violence against those who do get abortions.

And in a lot of ways it’s those far fringers that speak out here and call those that are pro-choice evil doers that will go to Hell. Abortion inflames many people and some get a little carried away.

Rarely do we see/hear of pr-lifers that say simply, "Hey, I think that life begins at conception and I think we need to protect the rights of the fetus." and just leave it at that. It’s sad really because I am sure there are far more level headed people with differing ideologies than there are fanatics.

But maybe it’s the nature of abortion because if you really believe in the sanctity of life and that life begins with conception, but you also profess a "live and let live" type of attitude then you aren’t that different from a pro-choicer as really you’re in favor of choice if you think about it…

Anyway, I guess my point is that many pro-choicers give thumbs down to pro-lifers because we see them all as their loud mouthed brothers and sisters.

Also, remember that just because it says religion and spirituality doesn’t mean that there are only religious people here.

And as a last point you can be religious and not particularly see a problem with abortion. I am very religious and also very pro-choice.
