I’m glad you at least conceed that the bible was not the first to print what is in effect the Golden Rule.

My point was more that the good parts are not it’s own and that bad parts exist in it.

The bible is a poor moral compass. Why use it when you can make do without?

On the subject of abortion the group of cells are not alive in the way you want them to be until at least 25 weeks when the brain starts to form. It’s just a group of cells with no conscious.

And certainly a deity that thinks the sun and stars came after the earth could not be anything more that the work of bronze age philosophers.

I dont see why you would even what to rationalize genocide, slavery, infanticide.
In all my years as a christian and till today I have not come across satisfying answers.
So If you can be honest with yourself and still believe these are the word of perfect deity, I have no argument, your faith is self sealing.

1) That is a Jewish ritual to prove a woman was undefiled.
2) The footnote reads: Or suffering; she will have barrenness and a miscarrying womb

Meaning she will not be able to bare children as verified by v28 – If, however, the woman has not defiled herself and is free from impurity, she will be cleared of guilt and will be able to have children.
