1.37 million Abortion’s are performed each year in the U.S alone only 1% of all abortion’s occur due to rape and incest, 6% occur because of health problems with either the mother or baby & 93% occur for social reason’s such as not wanting the baby or inconvenience don’t you think it is time to start lowering the numbers of Abortions?
It hurts. I am only 13 and I know 2 people who are in my grade who have had abortions. I could never be friends with them. In my mind, whenever I look at them I see a tiny baby that will never live. They are murderers to me. Abortion is murder unless there are health problems, although I could understand someones decision to abort a baby after being raped, but I think that the rapist should get the punishment, not the innocent baby.

Would you care to make it compulsory for men to visit a doctor against their will? Many need urgent health care and find it difficult to talk about their health issues. I don’t think you understand how difficult it is for people to go public with their reasons for any necessary procedure. I would hate to have people believe that they cannot have help because they don’t feel able to explain their circumstances in confidence.

Several friends who had medical treatment and only spoke about why they needed it after thirty years. Some were male. Two died because they didn’t go to a doctor in time. They just couldn’t talk about their symptoms, or the fact that they were attacked.
No, forcing peoples actions with laws, crimes, and threats only cause problems to go underground and flourish and leads to innocent people being given criminal status- look at the war on drugs- theres more, not less drugs and drug use since the war began- the damage the war has caused on human life, the economy and civil liberties have been devastating- far more than a tiny percentage of a population staying home and shooting up heroin would have caused (which they do anyway).
according to most studies i’ve read pertaining to abortion (my country, australia has the second highest rate in the world- second only too US) the factors that significantly reduce abortions in europe are education- in particular, sex education.
Australia and America have something in common that Europe doesn’t- we teach abstinence based-sex ed, in most of europe they teach the kids how to use condomns and the pill- in our countries we spend our sex-education time primarily telling kids about STD’s and exaggerating the fail-rate of contraceptives to scare our kids off sex. Unfortunately for us- ignorant kids get pregnant far more often than educated ones.
Making abortions illegal is tantamount for the argument for abstinence based sex-ed, it’s naieve, a insult to the intelligence of our young people and will cause untold damage

UWCharlie, the kids aren’t stupid, they are told in school that half of condomns break and that in most instances the pill fails because of ones metabolism- kids are not encouraged to think of contraceptives as a safe alternative to unsafe sex- abstinence is pushed as the only safe option- as a result, kids don’t use contraceptives.

We have a VP candidate who thinks abortion should never be allowed. The child’s daddy could also be the grand-daddy, but a felony would be committed by anyone involved in an abortion.

It is time to lower the number of abortions, but that can most easily done by lowering the number of pregnancies. Fifty years ago there were not as many unwanted pregnancies OR births… nor was there the pill or other modern means to prevent either.
With birth control so available, why would anyone have unprotected sex in this day and age? The most painful (physically and emotionally) and expensive means of birth control is by means of abortion. Yet, our young people are so stupid as to use it as a means to prevent birth. Why???

I support a woman’s right to chose.
Just because having an abortion is not the right decision for me does not mean that I have the right to make that decision for other women. Each woman has to examine her own situation, her own resources, her own heart and have a conversation with her God and make the decision that is right for her.
If you want to start to lower the rate of abortions — then decrease the incidents of unplanned pregnancy. This means
1. real sex education in schools– not just abstinence only. Sure, abstinence is the only 100% effective birth control. But lets get real here. Most people of my generation started having sex at age 15. I suspect kids are a whole lot younger now. You want to prevent abortions— then prevent unplanned pregnancy! And that required sex ed before panties start coming off.
2. make condoms available in high school. Require the students see the guidance counselor to get them…but make them available.
3. Plan B is now available over the counter— let people know about this. Many people don’t know because the right to life movement has also targeted birth control so it had to be made OTC with out much fan fair.

So, yes…I think lowering the incident of abortion is something that should be done. I don’t believe that restrictions on abortion is the answer. If you prevent unplanned pregnancies…the rate of abortions will go down ever time.
