Why does the CDC keep statistics on Abortion?

I asked a question about why there were more abortions in red states than blue states. Said my stats were partisan, so I asked my next question, "Is the CDC partisan" I had explained my previous question. Then I got called out by some right wing guy that asked me that why the CDC keeps track of abortion when its not a disease. I assume that he assumed that I was making it all up.

If you want to see the stats or the source you can refer to my original question.

Many people told me that they imply did not believe me. I want to know if they have a reason to not believe Stats from the CDC, or if they merely choose not to believe anything that does not conveniently fit their paradigm.

I’m not right wing guy. Far, far from it. I honestly didn’t know that the CDC keeps abortion stats. Sorry about that. It was no slight to you whatsoever. I am not a right wing guy. Look at all of my previous answers and that should confirm it for you. Can you provide a link to the CDC statistics? I honestly didn;t know.

Ah, the thumbs down…whatever.

I believe they keep statistics on abortion because it’s a controversial matter that will, again and again, need statistics to back up an argument, whether it be for or against abortion.

The CDC does indeed have an agenda. The are professional bureaucrats and that makes most liberal. And I would be immediately dismissive of their statistics. In addition, as bureaucrats, they are beholden to this administrations desire to abort as needed without restraint. For a more realistic view, I suggest anyone who wishes an accurate picture to go to our states statistics. I did and was quite surprised to find the liberals curtain to hide behind, rape and incest, were less than 2% in my state. I would expect that to go up in the lawless urban centers like Chicago and Detroit..etc…never-the-less, that makes a near 98 % rate optional…within that is the life of the mother argument, which has a 0% rating in my state.

CDC began abortion surveillance in 1969 to document the number and characteristics of women obtaining legal induced abortions. The data is voluntarily reported to CDC regarding legal induced abortions.

The reasons that CDC complies the information is that education regarding abstinence and contraceptive use, including emergency contraception, combined with access to and education regarding safe, effective contraception, and family planning services, might help reduce the incidence of unintended pregnancy and, therefore, the number of legal induced abortions in the United States
