I am trying to find an objective source of statistics about abortion, especially about the number on demand.?

I was having a debate with a friend about abortion earlier today. He asked me what source I would consult to find out how many on-demand abortions there are in the course of a year, and what percentage of them are absolutely necessary due to rape, incest, or health. I did not have an answer for him, but want to be sure I find one. Could anyone suggest a good study or source for this? Thank you.

The ‘right’ source is the US Department of Health and Human Services. In a cursory search, I found the data for 1992 (a little stale, but valid data) at the specific link included. However, the website www.hhs.gov is the right place to find the specific data. So many different reports exist, that the important thing is the site, not whatever specific question I could find. As I get your question, you just want to know the source: Health and Human Services is the source.
