Ave Maria University Honors Tom Golisano Who Appears to be Pro-Abortion

The U.S. Bishops Conference (USCCB) 2004 document “Catholics in Political Life”, states: “The Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, HONORS or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.”

The Cardinal Newman Society cites a NY Times piece where Golisano is quoted as being pro-choice:

Sometimes crowds would form around him, with some of the people engaging him in a conversation about the issues.

“Where do you stand on abortion?” one woman asked him.

Mr. Golisano responded, “The country has been very clear that it wants choice, and I’m pro-choice.”
